Becoming A Christian

We all, at some point in time, come to places where we realize that there is more to life than what we see, that there is a life after death, and that there is a God who created us and gives purpose and meaning to allMAN1 things.

We were made in His likeness, designed by our Creator for relationship and eternal life with Him, but we find ourselves without that relationship and incomplete…and with a “God-shaped hole” in our hearts.

Faith in God then, is what reconnects us to Him, makes us whole, and gives us that sense of peace that no matter what comes, I am in the hands of God, who loves me.

But how did it come to this? How did this God-shaped hole become empty of God?

We’re all in the same boat on this one. The Bible says that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) Sin is simply going our own way in life instead of God’s way. We’ve all done it – the Bible says I should do this, and I turn and do that – we all have that nature within us.

The problem is that the Bible also says that the “wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23a) There are consequences to my sin, to going my own way, in that it separates me from God. And as God is the giver of life, I am left not only empty of God, but empty of life.

It’s a problem that, no matter what good we’ve tried to do to make up for it, none of us have ever been able to fill or fix the problem of the lifeless, God-shaped hole in our hearts.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:8

From the Garden of Eden to the End of All Things, God’s desire has always been for relationship with His CHRISTBeloved creation. God saw our problem of an empty, lifeless heart, and even though it was our own sin that brought this about, He loved us enough to send a solution.

Our American law says that a guilty thief receives a jail sentence. Spiritual law says that a guilty sinner receives a death sentence. But God The Eternal Judge, stepped off of the bench as God The Savior – Jesus Christ, our “God-shaped solution,” and took our death sentence for us on the cross!

You are loved by God!

More than you could ever imagine! It was shown in His willingness to leave Heaven, take on human form and die in your place so that the sins that separated you from Him could be forgiven, and the “God-shaped hole” in your heart could be filled with the very Giver of Life, Jesus the Son of God!

Whoever has the Son has life; 1 John 5:12a

A Gift of Grace – Received by Faith

Grace is simply undeserved love. God provided the solution of His son Jesus before we ever deserved or asked for it. It was a gift that could never be earned, only received with deep thankfulness.cross

Faith is another word for trust, and in this case, we are trusting that our broken relationship with God will only be restored by trusting in what Jesus

did for us on the cross. Our goodness and good works are tainted by our sins. We are only saved by God’s grace through faith. Only in Christ can my lifeless heart be reborn to eternal life.

Will you decide to trust in Jesus today?

It all begins with a simple, heartfelt prayer.

Dear God,
I Admit that I have sinned and wandered from You and Your plans for my life.
I Believe that You loved me so much that You came and died in my place for my sins.

I Confess my faith in You Jesus as my Savior, my Life and my Lord.

Thank You, oh thank You for forgiving me today! In Jesus Name, Amen!

As simple as ABC, as difficult as surrendering your life to Him, and as rewarding as entering into a relationship with the eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, everywhere present God of the universe! He loves you, has a plan of blessing for your life here on earth, and for all eternity! Make a decision to put your faith in Christ today, and fill that empty place in your heart…

Don’t wait one more day!
