The word Icon means: An image; a representation.
We want our WCC icon to be an image that reminds us of who we are striving to become, Followers of Jesus who are Loving, Living and Giving…
The Cross is central. It is a symbol of the love of God the Father, who sent His only Son into the world to rescue us from our sins. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for another, and it is what inspires us to love God and others the way Christ first loved us!
“We love because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19 NIV
The Cross is white, and reminds us of the Light of Christ shining into the world as He lives in and through us.
When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 NIV
The Circle is the world and the community in which we live, and is where we are to live out and give to everyone the life-changing Good News of God’s great love.
And then He told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” Mark 16:15NLT
